Among the seventies and eighties, a group of musicians from Barcelona were the performers and creators of which we can call the soundtrack of an era. Its headquarters was the Zeleste Club, but most of the country people could enjoy many nights of Festival with musicians who have been the benchmark for many of us. Some of them are still active, others have changed the settings for other tasks, and some others, as in the case of Xavier Patricio "Gato" Pérez, are no longer with us.
It all started at a “rumba” party in which a group of friends were playing all night. With some drinks but not drunk, and without further claim that having a good time, were rescued songs like "La Rumba de Barcelona", with its glossary of the neighborhoods of this city and the melancholic "Rumba dels 60", full of authentic musical poetry and values. These songs are another “Gato” lesson of how to describe life, people and places of his beloved Barcelona. From another point of view, and more than twenty years later, we are doing a tribute to the Gato´s epoch and his beloved Barcelona.We believe that this is the first band that pays a stable and constant homage to the active recent history of musical life in Barcelona.
Following this private party and many more, we want to share with you all the music that excited and made to dance so many people in the past, and that is joining us nowadays.It is a pleasure and a privilege to bring back to life the “Gato´s” songs, and to revive in people those intense feelings that described his songs. We make no claims, but with style, with a band of 15 musicians in an amazing show. Definitely, every gig pretends to be a homage to those people who gave their lives to music, wrinting a new page in our history.
